Things to keep in mind while travelling to Umling La Pass
This Umling-la bike trip is no walk in the park, make no mistake about it. You have to come prepared both physically and mentally. 1.Umling La Pass, located at an altitude of 19,300ft, is characterized by extremely thin air, which makes even normal breathing very difficult. 2.If you are suffering from respiratory problems or any other kind of heart condition, you should avoid traveling to this pass. 3.In Ladakh, AMS (altitude mountain sickness) is quite common, and you should acclimatize yourself properly before deciding to take a trip to Umling La Pass. 4.You should also keep in mind that special permits are required to travel in certain areas. The nearest filling station is Karu which lies close to Leh, so it is advisable to load up on your reserves. 5.Keep your first aid kit readily available in your backpack. You might need it anytime during this trip.

DAY 1 (MANALI STAY) :

Manali - After breakfast, you will get your first chance to ride your choice of motorcycle, Start your Indian motorcycle tour by exploring Manali and its surroundings with a local guide. You can also visit Naggar Castle, Roerich Art Gallery, Hindu Temples and the hot springs in Vashisht.
DAY 2 -(Manali To Jispa\Sarchu (140\177 Kms )
If Baralacha la Pass is closed due to heavy snow fall we stay back at Jispa camp or continue to Sarchu.

Wake up early this morning and begin your adventure. Today you will be riding for the first time on the Umling la pass Bike trip,Start your ride to Rohtang Pass (3978 meters). The beautiful mountain pass is the gateway to your bike tour. The pass provides mesmerizing views of the Himalayas and also serves as the divider between the humid Kullu valley and the high altitude Lahaul and Spiti valleys. It will be an amazing and thrilling experience to cross your first mountain pass of the journey on Manali Leh highway. The road is almost smooth except for a few water crossings. This first leg of your journey is your first challenge as the roads are really bad and the weather conditions are also uncertain. This place is famed for its inhospitable snow storms and blizzards. Overcome your first test, after which you will pass through the Lahaul Valley. Lahaul introduces you to the mountains capped with snow all around. Proceed to Jispa, which is your halt for the day. Jispa is at 10,000 ft (3,300 m approx). Enjoy a delicious dinner of the mountains. Steamed momos and thukpa are famous traditional Himalayan items for dinner. Fill your stomachs and be off to your well-deserved rest. Overnight stay in Jispa. Take your time to acclimatize here. This is the last habitat place and now on barren land will start. The real adventure is just about to begin from here. So get relaxed and be ready for tomorrow’s challenging ride.

Today, you will leave to ride to the higher regions, following zigzag uphill roads in the shadow of hanging glaciers, to the scenic Baralacha La (4800 m / 15,748 ft.). It is one of the most dangerous mountain passes in the world. You may feel low oxygen on this pass and it will test how properly you are acclimatized. It is the second mountain pass on Leh Manali highway. As you leave Jispa behind, enter the Greater Himalayan landscape. This highway route takes you into the heart of the mountains. The road from Jispa to Sarchu is a colossal collection of bends, curves, hairpins, water crossings and beautiful scenery. Keep driving towards Sarchu which is the border-line between Kashmir and Himachal. From there, get to the Sarchu camp. Relax for the rest of the day and keep a high intake on fluids to keep away AMS (acute mountain sickness). Overnight stay in Sarchu campsite.
DAY 3 (SARCHU - LEH) :

The spectacular day starts with a lot of challenges. Today you will have to ride your motorbike through flatlands and get into the mountain horizon. Blasting across the More Plains, and dipping down through hairpins into Leh, are also just a handful of the highlights of moto touring today. Leaving the vast Sarchu plateau, we head up a twisty road until you reach Namik La (4950 m / 16,240 ft.), where you can experience the spectacular views of rugged rocks and their unique geological formation. Then you go over Lachu Lang La (5090 m / 16,699 ft.). before riding through the rocky gorges to Pang. We ride the infamous Gata Loops, a series of never-ending hairpin bends and cross three high passes, including the second-highest in the world Tanglang La. Some riders could feel discomfort, but generally it should go smoothly. The journey will provide all the magnificent views of the Himalayas along with possible views of the fauna that finds these habitats to their liking. After crossing this pass, you will ride through well-maintained roads all the way to Leh. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
DAY 4 (LEH- KHARDUNG LA -HUNDER) :

Highlight of todays ride is to ride to the top of the world - the Khardungla Pass (5359m), the world's highest motorable pass.Steep turns, low oxygen & weather unpredictability rank the ride among the most challenging ride, located 40 kilometres from Leh. Following that, we'll travel to the Nubra Valley. The ride towards Nubra Valley is scenic and exhilarating through Khardung La, The highest motorable road on earth. Capture amazing pictures with your motorcycle & team after reaching Khardung La and then we hit the road quickly as it is not safe to spend much time on top of the pass due to the high altitude and thin air. We stop for lunch after riding down from the pass and then continue our journey.We will make a stop at Diskit Monastery for prayers. Our arrival in the valley will be welcomed by the white sand dunes and the sightings of the double-hump Bactrian camels grazing. Overnight stay at guest house.
DAY 5 (HUNDER-TURTUK- HUNDER) :

Turtuk, the only Baltic Town in India. After the sun peeps out, you will pack your bags as you will leave for Turtuk which was formerly a part of Baltistan and administered by Pakistan until 1971 before India liberated the region. The road is peppered with various military institutions, from shooting ranges, to airstrips, to signboards which stated ‘trespassers will be shot’, to canteens with piping hot food.The road from Nubra to Turtuk is scenic, passing through beautiful landscapes and providing spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The Turuk and adjoining villages are resided by Balti ethnic peoples, who are culturally different from Leh. Take it as an opportunity to explore the culture and traditions of Baltic People. Do not forget to take a snap with the mighty K2 from the topmost point in Turtuk. Overall, a day trip from Nubra to Turtuk is an excellent way to experience the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Ladakh, and it is a must-do activity for anyone visiting the region. We will explore the villages and ride back to Hunder by evening. Overnight stay in Nubra/Hunder.
DAY 6 (HUNDER-SHYOK-PANGONG LAKE) :

Today we ride towards the most photographed & beautiful Lake in Ladakh, Pangong Lake.It is a day of riding through slushy muddy & water crossings. Few water crossings en route are so huge and challenging, nothing like you have seen before. Later, face hilly curves along the Shyok river. Most of our ride is going to be along the beautiful Shyok River and through the villages like Agham, Shyok, Durbuk, and Tangste. After crossing Durbuk, the last stretch of the ride is going to be along the lake. Upon reaching Pangong, we will check in to our cottages where we will have dinner followed by an overnight stay. Overnight camp stays near the Pangong lake at Tangste or Spangmik..
DAY 7 (Pangong Tso Lake - Rezang La War memorial – Hanle) :

You cannot be more excited about the most adventurous day. Wake up early in the morning as we need a cover 310 km from Pangong lake to the Hanle which will take around 6-7 hrs to ride . Ride along the coastline of Pangong lake towards the Chinese border. The roads will turn into dirt trails beyond Merak. It's fun to ride on the stone and soil. •In Hanle, we will visit the Indian astronomical observatory which is the world’s highest observatory in the world at a staggering height of 4500 meters. •In Hanle, we also visit the 17th-century monastery of the Drukpa lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. The view of the village from the monastery is eye-catching. •Overnight stay in a local homestay in Hanle.
DAY 8 (Hanle – Umling La Pas – Hanle) :

The Most Awaited & a Exciting Day •After early breakfast At about 5:30 a.m we start riding towards Umling La at the height of 5883 mtrs , which is a newly opened pass in Ladakh and is the new highest motorable pass in the world, 1000ft higher than Khardung La Umlingla Pass •Umling La Pass is located at a distance of 75 kilometres from Hanle; in the direction of the village of Demchok; in Changthang Valley of Ladakh region. •Umling La is a mountain pass in Ladakh, India on the ridgeline between Koyul Lungpa and the Indus River near Demchok. At an elevation of 5,883 metres, it forms the source for the Umlung stream that drains into the Indus and a tributary of the Kiungdul river that drains into Koyul Lungpa. •The journey of this pass is going to be very tough in terms of terrain and oxygen is very less as compared to Leh city. •Most of the roads for today will be completely off road with High altitude terrains. We will be riding for more than 2 hours in 15000 Ft Above sea level, we will reach Umling pass by noon. •After departing from Hanle you will come across Hanle bridge, punch some kilometres and you will see the Kalatartar plain, ( Barren straight road), and if you are lucky you will get the chance of seeing the majestic Tibetan Gazelle on this road. •The ride is not complete without the plains of kalatartar and blacktop road, The picturesque landscape will mesmerize you. And after riding for a while you will come across Nerbo-la pass. ( 5282 m ), take a break & enjoy the view & after a short break head towards Umling-la. On the way you will come across a signboard which says “now you are above Everest base camp” this is heartwarming and an accomplishment of this ride. Just after an hour or two you will come across the highest motor able road in the world Umling la pass ( 5883 m ) It has dethrone the khardong-la pass of ( 5603 m ) as the highest road in the world. Ride further you will come across the last village of Indo- china border which is Demjok. From Hanle to Umling-la there is no restaurant or Atm. And the distance from Hanle to Top is 75 km and takes roughly around 5 hrs when riding from Nerbo la pass, there is another road which leads to the Top via Photi la pass and it is around 115 km and takes roughly 7 hrs to cover one side distance, So go with all these things in mind. After spending some time there and we will ride back on the same route to reach Hanle. By evening we will reach Hanle and stay Overnight in Guest House, Here hotels are not available because of the remoteness.
DAY 9 (Hanley to Tso Moriri) :

A ride to the calm and sacred lake in India •After having your breakfast, drive to Tsomoriri Lake. It is a breathtaking journey on a trail that is literally a ‘no man’s land. •Tsomoriri is situated at an altitude of 4511m above sea level; with an area of about 140 Sq.km •Spend your evening watching the shadows of the surrounding mountain and the varying depths of Tso Moriri lake. •Stay in tented cottages at Tso Moriri.
DAY 10(Tso Moriri to Leh) :

Its time to say goodbye to the lake •After waking up in the morning we will be traveling back to Leh riding for around 4-5 hrs which will cover around 220 km. •Later on, head back to Leh. you’ll drive back on the same route till Mahe bridge and then take the beautiful road along the river Indus to Leh. •On the way you can explore Chumathang (Hot Spring ).We will have lunch at Chumathang. Shortly after, the roads are in fantastic condition. You will reach Leh in no time.
DAY 11(LEH - 11 AM- CHECK OUT) :

RIDE INCLUSIONS & EXCLUSIONS
SECTION A: PACKAGE WITHOUT MOTORCYCLE

Accommodation in hotels / camps / guest houses on double/triple sharing from start to end of your ride itinerary.

Meals - breakfast and dinner starting from start to end of your ride itinerary.

Services of the experienced trip leader and motorbike mechanic

Services of the backup vehicle for a group of more than 5 motorcyclist / 2 suv cars /5 mtb riders
-
First aid kit and oxygen cylinder at dispersal with the ride leader
-
Assured inner line permits and ladakh union fee.

A backup vehicle (suv/traveler/bolero camper) to carry your luggage and spare parts from day-1
-
Facility to carry luggage in a vehicle restricted to 1 rucksack / duffle bag of 50-70 liters per motorbike.

Oxygen cylinder and basic first aid during the tour

Evening bonfire (at places allowed & that are safe)

Driver expenses/ toll tax/ fuel/ parking charges
SECTION B: PACKAGE WITH MOTORCYCLE

Everything that is included in Section - A

Royal Enfield -350cc / 500cc / Himalayan motorcycle

Motorcycle fuel for the complete trip as per the itinerary/ extra fuel for back up

Standard helmet for both rider and pillion

Riding gears for rider (knee pads and elbow guards are included in the package for the whole trip)
RIDE EXCLUSIONS:

Gst 5%

Adventure travel insurance

Any airfare / rail fare other than what is mentioned in “inclusions.”

Airport, railway station or bus stop pick up or drop.

Personal expenses like telephone, laundry, tips and table drinks, etc.

The cost of any spare part will be used due to the accidental damage incurred when the motorcycle /suv/mtb is in the rider’s possession.

The cost incurred to transfer or tow the motorcycle /suv/ mtb in case it is dropped on the way.
-
Motorcycle /suv/ mtb servicing or maintenance cost.

Any extra lunch and other meals not mentioned in package inclusions

Security deposit per motorcycle of rs. 10,000/-. As per the deposit policy (this is totally refundable at the end of the trip if there are no damage or spare parts used.)

Security deposit per suv of rs. 25,000/-. As per the deposit policy (this is totally refundable at the end of the trip if there are no damage or spare parts used.)

Security deposit for mtb of rs. 5,000/-. As per the deposit policy (this is totally refundable at the end of the trip if there are no damage or spare parts used.)

Parking and monument entry fees during sightseeing.

Any cost incurred due to extension, change of itinerary due to natural calamities, road, blocks, vehicle breakdown, union issues and factors beyond our control

Additional accommodation/food cost incurred due to any delay

The cost for the single sharing accommodation will inccur additional costs which needs to be confirmed prior the ride.
